Hotel Van Dyk...
We've been nominated for the I Do Wedding Awards of 2017! Here at Hotel Van Dyk we've had a fabulous year of weddings and would be honored to win this amazing award. We would really appreciate your vote so please click the link below to vote for us!
Over the past 2 years or so we have visited many times for meals and celebrations at different times including our daughter's wedding in September last year, which was a perfect weekend from the Friday night when 4 of us arrived, through the day itself on the Saturday and to our departure on the Sunday after a delicious breakfast for all the guests who had stayed the night. The staff were very attentive throughout, paid attention to detail and nothing was too much trouble. The wedding was a day to remember, with all the guests commenting how much they had enjoyed it.
We have never been disappointed with the service or the meals and our last visit on February 6th where we enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal and drinks was again outstanding.
We were not rushed and in fact enjoyed a leisurely 3 hours or so chatting, eating and drinking. The four of us all had different starters, main course, desserts and coffees which were all served piping hot, (except for cold desserts of course). We always feel very comfortable, welcome, and can honestly say we have never had a bad meal in the 2 years or so that we have been visiting. We have loyalty cards and enjoy the benefits of them.
Looking forward to next time!
Last used this restaurant a year ago, and yet again not disappointed. The amazing vegetarian menu even tempted two of our meat eaters. Between the six of us we sampled much of the menu, tasting and sharing each others choices as everything seemed so delicious, we really were spoilt for choice. Might have to meet up in six months just to eat there again!
We had our wedding, ceremony and reception, at Hotel Van Dyk. From start to finish they made sure that everything was perfect. They paid attention to all the little bits that we couldn't during our special day. We've had nothing but compliments from family and friends who came to help us celebrate about the service, the staff, and the food.
We couldn't have picked a better weddings team than the one we had for our day. Michelle and her team were amazing and nothing was too much trouble.
Also... TRY THE BROWNIES!!!!
Lovely place all looks very upmarket. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good choice on the menu. Service was very good, not rushed. Five in our group and all starters and mains were well presented and cooked to our liking. Roast beef and lamb very good, nice and pink. Not cheap but worth it.
Even though a venue has good revues, because it's local, we tend not to frequent it.
My wife and I live 5 miles from Van Dykes, but have not been, until a few days ago, when we went for a midweek lunch. It was superb. good menu, good food, good service. It was pleasant weather, but not nice enough to eat outside. Pity, because the outside dining areas are lovely. ( If only we had a real summer.) We only experienced the basics of what the hotel has to offer, but, I believe if you live in the Sheffield, Rotherham, Worksop area, and you want a wedding venue, a cabaret/dinner night out, or just a quality meal for two, you can not go wrong.
Firstly I would like to thank all the staff for giving my daughter a very special day .
From start to finish the service was exceptional even when we were in the gardens and serving the hors d'oeuvres - Wow - My dad who is 91 loved them and really stuffed himself lol .
Well the wedding ceremony was so professionally done and it felt so good for everyone there especially me as father of the bride .
The layout of the functions room was tasteful to say the least and to be honest it was immaculate inside and out . Everything was "Spot on" .
Having been to Van Dykes since 1974 I knew the food would be good . However with 60 people to cater for I thought it may be a challenge ! No problem whatsoever it was Excellent .
Brill day Brill food and Brill staff - Thankyou

We had heard positive reviews via word of mouth about the Hotel Van Dyk, so decided to book a table for four people to celebrate a birthday on a Sunday lunchtime. Conveniently located just of the M1 motorway (J30), there are ample spaces in the car park to the rear of the hotel.
When we entered through the hotel's main entrance we followed the signs for the 'Bowden' and were greeted by smiles from the friendly members of staff and escorted into the separate lounge area used for the restaurant. We ordered drinks, which were promptly served, while we decided what to order.
The menu was extensive and we felt we were spoilt for choice. Options included the traditional Sunday roast, pastas, salads, fish, steak and vegetarian dishes. After some deliberation we opted to start with homemade broccoli and Stilton soup with large croutons, crusted goats cheese and garlic mushrooms served on brioche.
For main course we were delighted with our choices which included, Goats cheese with a hazelnut crust, the leek and spinach and potato encroute, the seared steak with Gorgonzola and Panzanella salad and the deep fried Whitby cod and chunky chips. All of which were very tasty and presented well.
The desserts were of an equally high standard, and the sweet menu included a section which stated that those desserts had been awarded an AA rosette. We ultimately decided on the chocolate fondant, crème brûlée and cheese and biscuits. The coffee at the end of the meal was good quality and promptly served.
The ambience in the restaurant was relaxing with quiet background piano music from a CD playing, which was not intrusive. The tables were spaced appropriately and were suitably sized to allow enough space for each guest to sit comfortably on the high backed chairs. The walls of the room had wood paneling and there was an ornate chandelier hanging from the centre of the ceiling.
The staff were all very professional, courteous and attentive throughout our stay. The waiters / waitresses wore white gloves whilst serving, which added a little extra elegance to the experience.
We would recommend the 'Bowden' restaurant at the Hotel Van Dyk and are look forward to returning to celebrate a similar occasion in future.
Stayed May 2015
My husband and I got married at Hotel Van Dyk on Saturday 23rd May. Along with our family and friends we had an amazing day. Everything went wonderfully and we were helped and supported throughout the day as well as the planning by the great team at the Hotel.
Nothing was too much to ask and the food for the wedding breakfast and evening buffet was lovely.
The ballroom is a wonderful setting for both ceremony and celebrations. The bridal suite is lovely. Everyone who shared our day said how lovely the hotel was. Thank you Natalie,Michelle, Jade and the rest of the Van Dyk Team.
